Originally founded to address the lack of women in key decision-making roles in the cultural sector, Brisbane’s 2high Festival – named after a circus move where one performer stands on the shoulders of another – has, since 2007, supported young people of any gender and provided them with a step up into the world of professional arts practice.

A few weeks ago Teresa Bell resigned from the Australian Poetry Centre and I was appointed Acting Director. I am thrilled to accept the position, taking over from Teresa, who was absolutely inspiring and a pleasure to work with. She achieved so much and achieved it in such a positive, collaborative manner with great integrity. I think poetry is undervalued in Australia, as an art form, and my aim is to raise the profile of poetry, poets and the Centre. Here are a few things I have initiated to help in this regard:
